RAM (Random Access Memory) is a type of computer memory that temporarily stores data and instructions that the CPU needs while performing tasks. It allows for fast read and write access to a storage medium that is much quicker than a hard drive or SSD. RAM is volatile memory, meaning it loses all stored information when the computer is powered off. More RAM generally improves a system's performance, especially when running multiple applications or handling large files.
